Nashville Events in May 2026: What To Do This Month

May is Nashville at its best. The weather is right, the calendar fills up fast, and the city moves outside. Live music spills out of Warner Parks. Horses race at Iroquois. NASCAR comes to town. Bluegrass echoes through the hills. If you are new to Nashville, May is the month that shows you exactly why people choose to live here. If you have been here a while, you already know.

Here is what is worth showing up for this month.

Live Music and Outdoor Concerts

Musicians Corner

Every weekend in May | Centennial Park

Musicians Corner returns to Centennial Park every weekend in May for free outdoor concerts on the lawn. This is one of the best things about living in Nashville that never gets old. Local and regional artists perform on a real stage with a real production setup, the park is beautiful in May, and it costs nothing. Bring a blanket, bring food, and plan to stay longer than you intended. Details and lineup at musicianscorner.com.

Full Moon Pickin’ Party

May 29 | Percy Warner Park

The Full Moon Pickin’ Party at Percy Warner Park is an institution. Monthly bluegrass and old-time jams under the full moon, held in one of Nashville’s most beautiful natural settings. It is participatory as much as it is a concert: bring an instrument if you play, or just come to listen and sit by the fire. This is the Nashville that does not make the tourism brochures. Check the schedule at warnerparks.org.

Kilgore Station Bluegrass Festival

May 15-16, 2026 in Cross Plains, TN

The Kilgore Station Bluegrass Festival brings serious acoustic talent to a setting that feels genuinely off the beaten path. If your Nashville experience has mostly been downtown, this one is worth the trip in a different direction. Full details at kilgorestation.com.

Sports and Spectacle

Iroquois Steeplechase

Saturday, May 9 | Gates 8am, Races 1pm | Percy Warner Park

The Iroquois Steeplechase on the second Saturday of May is one of Nashville’s oldest and most beloved traditions, held at Percy Warner Park since 1941. Horses race over timber fences through the park’s rolling terrain while thousands of Nashvillians show up in their best spring attire with picnic baskets and cold drinks. It is simultaneously a serious horse race and a full social event. It is also a benefit for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Tickets and details at iroquoissteeplechase.org

NASCAR Cup Series Race in Nashville (Cracker Barrel 400)

May 29-31, Cup Series May 31 | Nashville Superspeedway, Lebanon

The NASCAR Cup Series returns to Nashville Superspeedway in late May. Nashville and NASCAR have a long history, and the crowd this race draws is loud, committed, and genuinely fun to be around even if you have never watched a race before. The Superspeedway is in Lebanon, about 30 miles east of downtown, so plan the drive accordingly. Details at https://www.nashvillesuperspeedway.com/events/cracker-barrel-400/tickets/.

Goodguys Nashville Nationals

Friday-Saturday, May 15-16 | 9:00am-5:00pm | The Fairgrounds Nashville

The Goodguys Nashville Nationals brings thousands of custom and classic cars to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds for a weekend of car culture that draws serious collectors and casual fans alike. If you have never been to a Goodguys show, the scale surprises you. Full details at good-guys.com.

Food, Drink, and Community

Tennessee Flavors

Tuesday, May 19 | 6:00pm-8:00pm | Nashville State Community College, Southeast Campus

Tennessee Flavors showcases the best of Tennessee food and beverage producers in one place. Chefs, farmers, distillers, and makers from across the state come together for a celebration of what Tennessee actually tastes like. Worth going if you care about local food culture beyond the tourist corridor. Details at tnflavors.org.

Music and Faith

K-LOVE Fan Awards

May 28-31 | Bridgestone Arena

The K-LOVE Fan Awards bring Christian music’s biggest names to Nashville for a weekend of concerts and an awards show at Bridgestone Arena. If contemporary Christian music is part of your life, this is one of the biggest events in the genre and Nashville hosts it every year. Details and tickets at klovefanawards.com.
