Starbucks just committed $100 million and 2,000 jobs to Nashville. Oracle is building its $4.5 billion global headquarters on the East Bank of the Cumberland River. Amazon already has more than 5,000 employees operating out of two towers at Nashville Yards on Church Street. Three of the most recognizable companies in the world made the same decision.
Here is what is driving it.
Starbucks: $100 Million and a Permanent Home at Peabody Union
On April 21, 2026, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee joined Starbucks leadership at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center to announce the company’s Southeast expansion. Starbucks is investing $100 million and expects to have 2,000 support jobs in Nashville over the next five years. The roles span supply chain, technology, and broader support functions, with salaries ranging from $81,900 to $279,000 according to active job listings.
The temporary office opened in The Gulch in May 2026 while Starbucks builds out its permanent space at Peabody Union, a new development in downtown Nashville where the company will occupy an entire building. CEO Brian Niccol cited three reasons for the choice: proximity to key suppliers, access to a growing technology talent pool, and alignment with where the company expects future coffeehouse growth across the Southeast.

Oracle and Amazon: The Foundation Already in Place
Oracle and Amazon arrived before Starbucks made its announcement, and their presence is what makes Nashville’s corporate story a pattern rather than a headline. Oracle is building its $4.5 billion global headquarters on the East Bank of the Cumberland River, a campus that will include more than 2 million square feet of office space and a pedestrian bridge connecting to Germantown. The company signed a 116,000 square foot interim lease at The Neuhoff District in March 2026, according to Oracle’s March 2026 announcement, and is committed to 8,500 jobs in the city by 2031. Amazon has been here for years. Two towers at Nashville Yards on Church Street house more than 5,000 employees, and the campus sits directly adjacent to the East Bank corridor where Oracle’s headquarters will rise. Nashville’s employment core is concentrating around that stretch of the city, and the companies building there are among the most consequential employers in the country.
Notable Additions: The List Keeps Growing
Starbucks, Oracle, and Amazon are the marquee names. They are not the only ones. Several other significant corporate moves have landed quietly alongside them.
- In-N-Out Burger is building a 100,000 square foot corporate office in the Nashville area, expected to open in 2026. The site will oversee the West Coast chain’s eastward expansion, exactly the same strategic rationale Starbucks cited for its Nashville decision.
- Ascension Saint Thomas is relocating its Nashville headquarters to Nashville Yards, occupying 16,000 square feet on the 16th floor of Pinnacle Tower. Pinnacle Financial Partners also consolidated and expanded its corporate headquarters at the same development.
- Sennheiser Group moved its Americas Regional Hub from Connecticut to Nashville, investing $2.5 million in the process.
- Arctiq, a North American cloud and cybersecurity firm, relocated its US headquarters to Brentwood in 2025, establishing Nashville as its central hub for client services across the country.
Nashville ranked 4th nationally for headquarters relocations in 2025, tied with Phoenix and Tampa, according to the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. Six relocations in a single year. That number is likely to grow.
Why Nashville? The Same Reasons You Moved Here
Every company that announced a Nashville move cited the same three things. No state income tax, according to the Tax Foundation. A city full of people who recently relocated from more expensive places and are not looking to leave. And a central geography that puts Nashville within a day’s drive of most of the country.
That is the same list most residents give when someone asks why they chose Nashville over somewhere else. The companies are following the people. And the people keep coming.
What This Means for You
The people taking those jobs need somewhere to live. Most of them will be earning six-figure salaries and buying or renting in the neighborhoods closest to where they work. The Gulch and Peabody Union for Starbucks employees. Germantown and East Nashville for Oracle’s workforce as that campus comes online. Nashville Yards has already shaped demand in SoBro and Midtown for years.
If you already own a home in Nashville, this is the story behind your equity. If you are thinking about buying, it is the case for why waiting carries real risk.
